The 2011 Pangos All-American Camp wrapped up this afternoon with its two all-star contests, the Top 50 & Top 25 “Cream of the Crop” Games. The top fifty game featured a couple players who felt they were overlooked for top twenty-five game and proved with their play that they were right. Then the Top 25 game was a showcase for a number of the best the Pangos had to offer as Shabazz Muhammad and Andre Drummond left the crowd buzzing at CSU-Dominguez Hills this afternoon in Long Beach! So with that in mind here’s a look at the top performers in Sunday’s “Cream of the Crop” games at the Pangos All-American Camp -
Pangos All-American Top 50 Cream of Crop Game -
The afternoon’s opening all-star game was a close and competitive affair from the opening tip as the tow squads were tied at the half-time 40-all. But, in the second half, game MVP, 6-7 rising junior, Stephen Domingo, who led the squad with 30 points, including 5-threes, that helped put the Red squad away 88-84 in the Top Fifty game. He received solid support from 6-3 rising junior Nigel Goss-Williams who added 12 points and 3 assists in the win. That offset a 13-point performance by 6-8 Akoy Agau, Jahmel Taylor with 11 points and 10 points each by 6-9 Demetrius Morant and 6-5 Eddie Alcantara.
Blue Squad (88 points) – Stephen Domingo 30 points & 6 rebounds / Nigel Goss-Williams 12 points / Vince Hunter 8 points / Tevin Glass 8 points / Treshaun Bolden 8 points / Shaqquan Aaron 5 points / Jordan Adams 4 points / David Andoh 4 points / Junior Lomomba 3 points / Chad Rykhoek 2 points / Chris Reyes 2 points / Mike Gesell 1 point / Eric Cooper Jr. 1 point.
Red Squad (84 points) – Akoy Agau 13 points & 6 rebounds / Jahmel Taylor 11 points & 6 assists / Eddie Alcantara 10 points / Demetris Morant 10 points / Brannen Greene 9 points / Jordan Bell 8 points, 6 rebounds & 4 blocks / R.J. Currington 7 points / Dakari Allen 6 points / Nick Stover 6 points / Dylan Greene 4 points.
Pangos All-American Top 25 Cream of Crop Game -
This game became somewhat of a personal duel of you can do it, but I can do it better, between our top two rising seniors, 6-5 Shabazz Muhammad and 6-10 Andre Drummond, who put on a basket attacking show in the second half as the Blue squad went on a second half run that blew open a tight game to win a 96-87 victory over the Red squad. Game MVP Shabazz Muhammad finished with 23 points and 4 assists, while high school teammate 6-7 Rosco Allen and 6-1 Solomon Poole added 11 points each in the win. Drummond and 6-8 Anthony Bennett finished with 16 points each for the Red squad, while 6-0 point Dominic Artis chipped in with 10 points and 6 assists in the tough loss.
Blue Squad (96 points) – Shabazz Muhammad (pictured) 23 points & 4 assists / Rosco Allen 11 points / Solomon Poole 11 points / Robert Upshaw 10 points / Winston Shepard 10 points / Savon Goodman 8 points / Ben Carter 6 points / Tyler Lewis 5 points / Zena Edsowoman 4 points / Adam Woodbury 4 points / Twymond Howard 2 points / Archie Goodwin 2 points.
Note: Goodwin dislocated his wrist after falling on an attempt to dunk in transition…could miss all or most of July at last report.
Red Squad (87 points) – Andre Drummond 16 points / Anthony Bennett 16 points / Dominic Artis 10 points & 6 assists / Jabari Bird 9 points / Xavier Johnson 9 points / Grant Jerrett 8 points / Arron Gordon 6 points / Stanley Johnson 4 points / Charles Mitchell 4 points / Marcus Page 3 points / Ikenna Iroegbu 2 points & 4 assists.
